Wolverines and Electric Vehicles

  • Rockford Grange 4262 Barrett Drive Hood River, OR, 97031 United States (map)

Did you know that wolverines need a deep, persistent snowpack to survive? Cascade red foxes and pikas also need a cold climate. Hear the latest on wolverines with Jocelyn Akins of the Cascades Carnivore Project, plus the latest on EV performance and costs. Gorge EV owners will show their cars and trucks and answer your questions. Volunteers will be available to help you plan for an electrified household.

Today there are more reasons than ever to get an EV, or otherwise stop buying gasoline…

  • Buying a new gasoline vehicle locks in about 40 to 150 tons (MTCO2e) of climate pollution throughout the lifetime of the vehicle. Our incremental climate emissions have incrementally created a trillion tons of pollution in the atmosphere. Now every emission avoided stops digging the hole deeper.

  • The equivalent fuel cost for an electric vehicle (EV) is around $1.25 per gallon.

  • EV payback periods just shortened due to gasoline prices, which will be elevated for at least another year.

  • There are 300,000 low-mileage EVs coming off lease in the US.

  • There are over 900 EVs registered in Hood River County.

  • Active transportation modes, such as using walking, biking, or using transit can cut emissions while saving money and improving physical health.

Join us on May 2 for a fun and money-saving presentation and chats with local EV owners sharing their experiences with electric cars and pickups!
