"The Year to Save the Earth" Multimedia Experience with Jim Scott

  • Rockford Grange 4262 Barrett Dr Hood River United States (map)

The world is on fire! The heated intensity of these times is taking a toll on all of us. On August 21, from 7-9 pm, the music of Jum Scott will both soothe our souls and inspire us to keep organizing for a healthier future for all. This is the right time to come together to express our love, our grief, our rage, and our vision.

We’re gathering to meet each other, to sing together, to support our steadfast local organizers and to create new connections. Mixing songs and beautiful projected images, Jim Scott’s lyrical melodies and powerful poetry take us from grieving to celebration - from protest to a positive vision for our communities and the planet. You will be invited to feel, to learn and to act!

His friend and mentor Pete Seeger called him “Some kind of a magician.”

Formerly a member of the Paul Winter Consort, Jim Scott was composer of their celebrated Missa Gaia/Earth Mass and has sung with John Denver, Tracy Chapman, Odetta, Joni Mitchelle and many more.  He has toured the world and recorded nine CDs of original music. Paul Winter says “his music sings of the life spirit.” From soundtracks for film and PBS, to performances in Carnegie Hall and the Great Hall of the United Nations, Jim has performed and recorded with illustrious musicians in many genres.

Hosted by the Gorge UU Fellowship. This is a free event with a suggested donation of $20 at the door. No one turned away for lack of funds. We invite you to bicycle or carpool if you are able.
